Auburn Track & Field opens outdoor season at Yellow Jacket Invitational
ATLANTA, GA (auburntigers.com) — The Auburn track and field team will open the 2016 outdoor season this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track on the Georgia Tech campus. Over 40 Tiger men and women will compete in the two-day meet.
“We’re excited about starting our outdoor season this weekend,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “There should be a lot of good teams and good competition at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. We have a lot of young athletes in action and it will be good to see how they compete after making solid progress during the indoor season. The first meet give us a starting point for the season and get the ball rolling. We’re looking forward to the challenge this weekend.”
Action begins on Friday at 6 p.m. ET with the women’s and men’s hammer throw followed by the 5000m at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday’s field events begin at 10:30 a.m. ET with the shot put and javelin. Running events begin at 12:30 p.m. with the 4x100m relay. The meet will conclude with the 4x400m relay at 4:30 p.m.
