Thousands In Valuables, Cash Stolen from Elderly Couple in Troy

Troy police need your help identifying who broke into a car in broad daylight, stealing hundreds of dollars from an elderly couple.Â
The couple, from Georgia, went to eat at the Hardee’s off of U.S. Highway 231. It was around 9 a.m. during the breakfast rush Tuesday of last week.Â
Â
The suspect or suspects smashed the window of the couple’s Dodge caravan, stealing the woman’s purse while the victims were eating inside.Â
Â
Two cars were caught on surveillance. Police say the drivers of a dark colored sedan and a light colored sedan, possibly a Honda, used the victim’s credit card to fill up their gas tanks. This was at a gas station north of the Hardee’s.Â
Â
Whoever’s responsible has also been cashing thousands of dollars in checks out of a closed account.Â
Â
If you saw anything that Tuesday morning or have any information call Troy Police at 334- 566-0500 or Crimestoppers at 215-STOP.
