No. 6 Auburn finishes 3rd at Hootie at Bulls Bay
AWENDAW, S.C. (auburntigers.com) – No. 6 Auburn men’s golf closed out the 2015-16 regular season by finishing third at the Hootie at Bulls Bay with a 1-over 289 on Tuesday at the Bulls Bay Golf Club for a 3-under 291-281-289-861.
The Tigers finished five strokes behind College of Charleston (856) and 20 strokes behind champion and No. 17 South Carolina (841).
All-SEC junior Matt Gilchrest tied for sixth at 2-under 65-71-78-214 while All-America sophomore Ben Schlottman climbed 15 spots on Tuesday to tie for 10th at 1-under 76-69-70-215. All-SEC senior Michael Johnson t-19th at 1-over 73-70-74-217 while senior Jake Mondy finished a stroke back at 2-over 77-71-70-218 to t-26th.
Mondy, a native of Blacksburg, Va., carded three birdies in the final round and eagled No. 16.
Freshman Graysen Huff also eagled the 16th and finished t-46th at 7-over 77-71-75-223.
No. 13 Wake Forest finished fourth at 295-864 followed by Charleston Southern (294-866), Missouri (295-868), No. 20 Duke (293-870), Kansas (291-871), North Carolina State (285-872) and Troy (291-881).
Kentucky finished 11th at 291-883 followed by Wofford (309-885), Maryland (295-887), Akron (294-890) and Wisconsin (309-901).
