NEW YORK (AP) – A judge in New York has sentenced an Alabama resident to prison for shooting a man in the face outside a New Year’s Eve party in 1991.
Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson says 55-year-old Derrick Lloyd of Montgomery, Alabama was sentenced Wednesday. He got 23 years to life.
He was convicted of second-degree murder in March.
Authorities said he had been living in Alabama under an assumed name and was featured on the TV show “America’s Most Wanted.” He was located in 2007 after a Department of Motor Vehicles clerk noticed that he was using fraudulent documents.
He was convicted in 2011 but it was overturned and he was retried.
