Business is booming in the capital city with events like Second Saturday and the Florida Georgia Line concert bringing in folks from all over into the capital city.

Florida Georgia Line brought thousands of people to downtown Montgomery as part of their “This is How We Roll” summer series.

The concert wasn’t the only big attraction happening in the capital city, though. There was the Second Saturday event, as well as, a neo-soul concert at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre.

Second Saturday event coordinator Denise Welch says events like these demonstrate Montgomery’s high potential.

“It creates activities for all the businesses in downtown, like all of our restaurants and everything else and that’s what we want to do.”

Local businesses say thanks to these events they are definitely seeing lots of traffic.

Dreamland BBQ waiter Rodney King says “The concert is really boosting business. There’s piles upon piles of people here so it’s been going good for us.”

“We’ve been booked up for the past day or so. Lots of guests came down early to make sure they knew what was going on as far as events for Second Saturday,” says Hampton Inn & Suites employee Marquez Mollock.

Nicole Hart visiting from Crestview, FL, says,”I just love the feel of this town. It’s very welcoming and I love the architecture. It’s not an overwhelming city, but it’s just nice and Southern.

There were just over 12,000 tickets sold for the concert.

The next big act coming to the Montgomery area is Smokey Robinson performing at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in August.
