Selma Man Arrested on Arson and Other Charges
On May 12, detectives with the Selma Police Department arrested 48-year old, Marcus Spears. Spears was arrested in connection with a series of house fires that occurred in the Vann Court area, Thursday morning.
An abandoned residence was set on fire that also spread to two other houses nearby.
Spears turned himself in to officers the morning of the fire and stated that he did it “to keep from killing two people”. The incident stemmed from Spears being accused of stealing, by family members.
Spears was charged with two counts of Arson 1st and one count of Arson 2nd.
NO BOND was set for these charges. The state fire marshal has been notified.
Spears was also arrested on separate charges for: one count of Adult Sex Offender registration and one count of Adult Sex Offender ID Requirement. He was given a $30,000 bond.
