Some teachers say helping children with autism is a constant uphill battle. That’s why educators and local groups are having an Autism Conference to find ways to make improvements to help those students with special needs.
It’s called the Unlocking the Mystery Conference. The event brings parents, teachers, and members of law enforcement together to raise awareness about children living with autism. It’s organized by a group of educators from Birmingham who partnered with the Autism Society of Alabama. Educators say the relationship between parents and teachers is vital to any child’s success in the classroom, but when it comes to dealing with children with autism it’s a must.
This is the first year the conference is in Montgomery. Event organizers say they hope to get even more schools districts involved next year.
