Montgomery Mayor, Police Chief to Make “Joint Statement” on Chief’s Future

Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange and Police Chief Kevin Murphy will make a joint statement Monday about Murphy’s future with the department.

That’s according to city officials, who say Murphy gave Strange a “written communication” late Thursday night. Officials did not say what that statement contained. According to Strange, Murphy remains on administrative leave.

Murphy has been on administrative leave since the death of his brother earlier this month. The Montgomery Advertiser had reported Murphy will retire.

The joint statement is set for Monday at 11 A.M. Stay with Alabama News Network as we bring you the latest on this developing story.
