11 People Hurt when Bus Slams into Birmingham Bank

Police say 11 people have been taken to hospitals after a bus crashed into a Wells Fargo bank building in Birmingham.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Al.com reports  that most of the passengers were able to walk off the bus after the crash, which happened shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the bus carrying 10 passengers was heading south on 18th Street when it collided with a black SUV that was headed west on Third Avenue.

Police said the impact of that wreck slammed the MAX bus into the small Wells Fargo branch on the corner of the intersection.
