ASU’s Summer Sports Camps Central

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (bamastatesports.com) – Summer break means it is now the beginning of camp season.

Here’s information on all of the sports camps that Alabama State University has to offer this summer.

June

Men’s basketball

The Lewis Jackson camp will take place from Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for ages 8-18 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

 

Registration for walk ins can be made in room 215 of the Acadome through Friday, June 3.

 

On Sunday, June 5, registration will be received from 3-6 p.m. in the rear of the Acadome.

 

For commuters, lunch is $6.50 per day and can be paid daily or for the entire session at $26.

 

Total tuition is $110 including a $25 deposit.

 

Housing and meals are available for an additional $105 fee.  Overnighters should prepare for check-in between 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 5.

 

A $50 key deposit is due at check-in for overnighters.  The deposit will be returned at the end of the session.

 

Learn the ins and outs of basketball such as shooting, dribbling, post play, defense and team play from coach Jackson, who has led Alabama State to two SWAC Championships, two regular season titles and is a two-time SWAC Coach of the Year.

Football

Brian Jenkins Sr. Football Camp (Montgomery) – June 10

Cost is $30 per person. The camp will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at The ASU Stadium.

 

The camp is designed to help campers maximize their potential and performance in skill-specific positions.

7-on-7 Passing Tournament Camp – June 11

This camp will be administered by the ASU football coaching staff. The cost is $30 per player, $250 per team of 14 players and 2nd team $200.

 

The camp will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at Hornet Stadium.

Women’s Basketball

Freda Freeman-Jackson Division I Basketball Camp – June 13-16

The coaching staff of the back-to-back SWAC Champion Alabama State Lady Hornets will offer a basketball camp.

 

Cost is $110, including a $25 non-refundable application fee.

 

Girls ages eight to 18 are eligible to attend. Campers receive instruction in fundamental skills, team concepts and principles of sportsmanship.

 

Each camper will receive a T-shirt, skill evaluation and a certificate.

 

Each person is guaranteed individual and team instruction on fundamentals.

 

Hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

 

Registration is on site at the rear of the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Women’s Volleyball

The Alabama State women’s volleyball team coaching staff will host an all-skills camp from Monday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 15 at Lockhart Gymnasium from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the first two days and from 9 a.m. until noon on the third day.

 

Campers will have the opportunity to play where the two-time SWAC champion Lady Hornets’ volleyball team plays the majority of its’ home matches.

 

Volleyball campers will have the opportunity to receive instruction from head coach Penny Lucas-White, who has guided Alabama State to three consecutive 20-win seasons and two NCAA Tournament berths in the previous three seasons.

 

Cost for commuters is $195 and $250 if staying overnight.

 

This includes a T-shirt.  Lunch is provided for commuters and all meals are provided to overnight campers.

Football Camp/Clinic, Dothan, Ala. – June 14

Cost is $30 per person. The camp will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 at Rip Hewes Stadium and is designed to help campers maximize their potential and performance in skill-specific positions. For more information, call the football office at 334-229-4444.

Cost is $30 per person. The camp will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the City Stadium in Prichard and is designed to help campers maximize their potential and performance in skill-specific positions.
