Crenshaw Co. Board Of Education Selects Interim Superintendent

The Crenshaw County Board of Education officially named an interim superintendent Monday morning, but plans for finding a permanent superintendent are postponed.
Terry Holley is the former superintendent for Covington County Schools. Now, he is interim in Crenshaw County, but he is not applying for the permanent position.
Holley takes the place of former superintendent Randy Wilkes who recently accepted the same job in Phoenix City. Board of education member, Steven Sanders, says the search for a permanent superintendent will begin in January, “We felt like if we waited until January to start the process again, we could have a longer search and get more applicants and just find the best fit for our children and our families of Crenshaw County. And allow the superintendent to move in in the spring of the year instead of making them move at Christmas.”
Holley has more than 36 years of experience in education. Although he retired as the superintendent of Covington County last year, he says he does not want the job permanently.
Several parents say they would like to see a permanent superintendent that has similar qualities to former superintendent Randy Wilkes.
Sanders says the board hopes to have a permanent superintendent by May of 2015.
