Four MPD Officer Arrests So Far This Year
There have been 4 MPD officer arrests in the past 4 months.
The first officer arrest came after the Greg Gunn shooting in February. Twenty-three year old Officer Aaron Smith was charged a week later with murder in Gunn’s death after allegedly shooting the unarmed man several times.
Two other arrests also came in March.
Twenty-two year old officer G.T. Farris left the scene of a crash and was arrested. It happened at the intersection of West and Fifth Streets in Montgomery. Farris was off-duty at the time.
The other arrest was 23-year old officer Morris Williams, who was arrested and charged with sodomy for assaulting a “mentally defective” adult woman while on duty.
And the latest, came this week as 27-year old Deonte Hamner was arrested and charged with first degree sodomy.
He allegedly stopped the victim’s vehicle for a noise complaint and sexually assaulted the adult male.
He’s being held on a 60-thousand-dollar cash bond a
nd currently on administrative leave.
