Sikorsky Workers Approve New Contract

TROY, Ala. (AP) – Workers at a Sikorsky Aircraft factory in southeast Alabama have approved a new labor contract.
The Dothan Eagle reports that employees at the helicopter component factory in Troy voted 340-10 in favor of the new agreement.
The contract includes an initial pay raise and guaranteed pay hikes over the next four years.
Local Teamsters leader Rocco Calo says workers will get a raise of 70 cents per hour and a guaranteed wage increase of 2.5 percent each year for the next four years. Employees also receive $4,000 over two years and stable insurance plans through 2016.
The Sikorsky plant employs about 540 people.
