Veterans Affairs Officials Give Update on Improvements in Veterans Care

Sequence 4

The Department of Veteran’s Affairs continues ongoing efforts to improve quality of care. The Montgomery VA Regional Benefits Office and Central Alabama Veteran’s Health Care System held a joint press conference to talk about the state of benefits and healthcare for vets in Central Alabama. Wait times and getting claim information has been an ongoing problem for veterans in need of help in the River Region, but the VA system says it’s come a long way when it comes to improvements. Claims wasn’t the only long wait time Central Alabama vets had to endure, long wait times for care at VA clinics was also a big issue, but CAVHCS says wait times have drastically decreased because of several reasons, adding more employees, and adding a new VA Clinic on Chantilly Parkway.

Even though VA Officials are happy with improvements made in the department, one of the biggest issues is communicating and regaining the trust of veterans. Central Alabama VA Officials say they’re also adding more initiatives and programs like the ‘My VA Communities’, which allows veterans in communities across Central Alabama to voice their concerns and issues to help make improvements in services for vets.
