Hotter and Drier Afternoons This Week
Heat and Humidity will be on the rise as we start the work week. We will also see rain chances significantly lower this week than they have been for the last several days. Through Friday, it looks like we will only see very isolated showers and storms in the afternoon hours across the area. With rain chances decreasing, afternoon highs will be increasing this week. Monday will top out near 96 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday and Wednesday will be even warmer, with highs of 97 each day and only isolated showers possible each day. Thursday currently looks like it will be the hottest day this week, with a high of 98, although some spots could hit the century mark. One thing we will have to watch for this week is the afternoon heat index values, as these could approach or exceed heat advisory criteria of 105 or above. Regardless, you won’t want to stay outside of air conditioned places for too long this week. Temperatures may moderate a little by the coming weekend, with highs in the mid-90s and only slightly better rain chances. Regardless, we won’t see any long term relief from the heat anytime soon. Overnight lows for the period will be in the mid-70s.
