Man Drowns Trying to Save 4-Year Old Daughter

Authorities say a man drowned while trying to rescue his daughter at Oak Mountain State Park beach.

Shelby County coroner Lina Evans identified the victim as 40-year-old Amin Nizar Humirani of Hoover.

Evans says Humirani’s 4-year-old daughter was in the water Sunday evening and became distressed. When he jumped in to save her, Humirani too became distressed. Evans says two men jumped in the water to help and after they pulled out the girl, Humirani had disappeared.

His body was found shortly after he drowned by Pelham Fire Department divers and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
