Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey Serving on National Panel

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey is a new member of the executive committee of the National Lieutenant Governors Association.

The association’s executive director, Julia Hurst, says Ivey was nominated by a bipartisan group of her peers to serve as the Southern Region chair on the executive committee.

Ivey says the new position gives Alabama a stronger voice at the national level. She says the group will be working on issues including hunger, military funding and sustainable energy.

Ivey is a Republican who is finishing her first term as lieutenant governor. She is running for a second term against Democrat James Fields in the general election Nov. 4.
