Generals blank Biscuits again, 4-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (biscuitsbaseball.com) – The Biscuits were shutout by the Jackson Generals for a second-straight night on Wednesday, falling 4-0 to their North Division rivals at Riverwalk Stadium.

Chris Kirsch (5-5) was on the mound for Montgomery and the left-hander brought with him a consecutive scoreless inning streak of 15 coming in. Kirsch would pitch well through the first four innings, extending that streak to 19.1 before Patrick Brady delivered an RBI-double into the left-center field alley to plate Marcus Littlewood to make it 1-0 Jackson.

That was all the Generals would need, but they added to that lead an inning later thanks to a two-run single by Littlewood, and an RBI-single by Ian Miller to make it 4-0. Jackson starter Ryan Yarbrough (11-4) was terrific in six innings of work, striking out six and allowing just one hit to Braxton Lee, a double in the third inning, on his way to tying Taylor Guerrieri for the league-lead in wins.

Lee would add another single later in the game, and Willy Adames would single in the ninth to bring the Biscuit hit total to just three on the night. The Biscuits have now gone 21.2 innings without scoring a run, with their last run coming on a Patrick Leonard RBI-double in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two. Jackson has now won nine straight games at Riverwalk, and is 15-4 against Montgomery this season.

The Biscuits will try to avoid the five-game sweep on Thursday night when Yonny Chirinos squares off against Paul Blackburn at 7:05 PM.
