Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Active Shooter Training

The first week of school is wrapping up — and as students work in the classrooms, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s SWAT team is working with active shooter trainings to make sure your child is safe this school year.
The Montgomery County Swat team spent the day training with tactics they say they hope never have to be used.
Swat team members spent this summer training inside some of Montgomery County’s schools. But if they’ve never been inside the school, they have access to the school’s emergency plans.
SWAT team members say having a shooter inside a school brings a totally different dynamic to how they train…
“Large structures like schools, we would have multiple teams split up, all in communication, trying to break that building down into smaller, workable areas to collapse in,” Said Lt. Randy Pollard with the SWAT team.
We reached out to Montgomery County Public schools — they were unavailable for an on-camera interview, but public information officials tell us it’s been several years since they’ve had an active shooter training that involves officers and children. They hope to have that training this school year.
