Greenville Butler County Library Open for Business

Library PICThe Greenville Butler County Library is finally ready and open for business after extensive renovation took place over the summer.

The Library was closed for two months to accommodate the renovations. The interior of the library had been largely untouched since it was built in 1992. The Library Board of Trustees set aside enough money to change the layout and design of the building, including adding new carpet, LED lighting and a children’s room. Library Director Kevin Pearcey says libraries aren’t going anywhere in the new world of technology, just adapting.

“Libraries are not going extinct. Libraries are being used more and more by a wide variety of the population,” Pearcey says. “The reason the Board of trustees decided to do this was because we wanted to make this a more 21st century library. The printed book is not going away anytime soon, but we wanted to add more technological opportunities for our patrons.”

Pearcey says he still has some decorating to do, but the library is largely finished and ready for everyone to use. Library hours are Monday through Friday, 9AM-5:30 PM and Saturday, 9AM-2PM.
