Student Arrested After Attempting to Fire Gun

A 14-year-old student at Vigor High School is in police custody after school officials say he attempted to fire a gun in the school’s hallway.

Mobile County Public School System spokeswoman Nancy Pierce tells WALA-TV that the boy was taken to Strickland Youth Center. Pierce says the school’s principal will recommend that he be expelled.

She says the boy took the gun out in a hallway at the school on Wednesday and attempted to fire it twice. It’s not clear why the gun did not fire.
