Warhawks’ women’s soccer team experienced for 2016 slate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (aumathletics.com) — The Auburn Montgomery women’s soccer head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge discussed the 2016 season, as the team will play September 1 against Eckerd College at Columbus State.

Ziyenge enters the year with 10 returners, and will look to rely on the experiences of All-Conference performer Brontine Cintrone. Seniors Amy Glynn and Courtney Omodei also bring a wealth of experience to the table, along with junior Megan Kowalski.

“We are going to rely heavily this season on our returners to instill a tradition in pride in the team. We have a lot of key players returning from last years team, and they will be essential to the success we see this season.”

The roster is complete with eight newcomers including Sabrina Knight, Trinity Prater, Mandeville Wakefield, Hanna Reid, Ruby Mendez, Chelsie China, Allison Singleterry and Mikaylah Corbin.

When asked about the newcomers, Ziyenge had nothing but positive words for the group stating, “Every newcomer has played with intensity and maturity, and have really surprised me with how well they have picked up our system. They will be a huge help to our team this season, if they continue the efforts they showed in the preseason.”

This years team will also be the first women’s soccer program at AUM to compete under the lights at the AUM Soccer Complex. The Warhawks will jump into the 2016 season on Thursday, September 1 at 1 p.m., where the team will travel to Columbus State to play Eckerd College in a neutral site game.
