Civics Program Provides Character Education for Selma Students
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A civics program in Selma City Schools is inspiring students to become Super Citizens.
The Super Citizen program is a ten week program designed to empower the Next Great American Generation.
The program teaches students about our country’s history and the importance of the role they’ll play in its future.
School officials say lessons from the program are integrated into the regular curriculum.
“Our focus in Selma City School System this year is to focus on the socio-emotional well being of children and that component of our program we’re ensuring that our students are exposed to lessons about how important it is to be good citizens and also how to demonstrate great character,” said Superintendent Dr. Angela Mangum.
The program is administered through the Liberty Learning Foundation which provides resources and training at no cost to the school system.
