Coffee Cart Raising Funds for Trafficking Victims Stolen
A coffee bicycle cart that a couple uses to run their business and raise money for human trafficking victims has been stolen.
Market Town Coffee Company owners Cody and Laura Jean Bell told police that the $3,300 cart was stolen from a shed behind their home sometime between Sept. 6 and Sept. 7.
The couple opened the business a year ago, operating out of the cart in downtown Montgomery.
Market Town Coffee is a nonprofit, with all proceeds above operating expenses going toward two organizations: Prattville’s Blanket Fort Hope and the WellHouse near Birmingham.
Blanket Fort Hope provides housing and other services for child trafficking victims, and the WellHouse offers immediate shelter and transitional housing to women who’ve been victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking.
