Troy City Councilwoman’s Legacy to Live On

HENDERSON 2

The memory and legacy of a troy city councilwoman will live on.

That’s was the focus of a meeting constituents of Dejerilyn King Henderson held Tuesday.

She passed away last week.
Henderson was known for her strong leadership, giving a voice to the voiceless.
As a city councilwoman, her constituents say she was there anytime they needed her.

“She was a woman who stood tall and carried a big stick,” said Myrtle Tolbert.
And now they want to honor her memory with an institute for civic and political education.

“We need to work with our young people, give them something to do. Provide some avenues that they can work out of the situations they are in or may face,” said community activist Jerry Henderson.

We’re told there will also be a Memorial service in the coming weeks to allow Henderson’s constituents time to speak about her and reflect on her legacy.
