Auburn Symposium to Explore Ala. Role in Civil War

Auburn University is hosting a symposium exploring Alabama’s role in the Civil War and its aftermath.

The forum is being hosted at Langdon Hall Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Organizers say speakers will include contributors to the book “The Yellowhammer War: The Civil War and Reconstruction in Alabama.” Yellowhammer was a nickname for Alabama’s Confederate soldiers.

The book was edited by Auburn history professor Kenneth Noe and is a collection of essays covering several topics.

Organizers say the symposium will conclude with a walking tour of Civil War era Auburn led by faculty and graduate students from the university’s history department.
