Authorities Search for Lawrence County Inmate

Law officers in northern Alabama are searching for an inmate they say failed to return from a work-release assignment.

Authorities say 24-year-old Christopher Chase Sapp of Hillsboro was being held for failing to appear in court. WHNT-TV reports that authorities said Sapp was supposed to return from his work release detail Friday night but never showed up.

Deputies have been searching for Sapp since Friday evening.

The sheriff said that Sapp does not have a history of any violent crimes.
