We’re learning more about the five South Carolina children, whose bodies were discovered in Wilcox County. Their father is charged with murder.

Lexington County, South Carolina officials spoke Wednesday morning to release details about the case that spans several states.

Here’s what we know so far.

South Carolina officials say these are pictures of the five children searchers found near the Oak Hill community in Wilcox County. They say their father Timothy Jones is charged with murder. Officials said the children and Jones were last seen August 28th when he picked them up from school.
Their mother, who is divorced from Jones, reported them all missing September 3rd. Mississippi officials arrested Timothy Jones last Saturday for D-U-I. They say they found cleaning supplies, blood and children’s clothes in his vehicle but no children. Yesterday officials say he led investigators to the bodies of his children in Wilcox County. That search helped by Butler County officials along with the FBI. South Carolina officials say their mother is devastated by what’s happened.

“i don’t think there’s a person in this room who could speak to the mother of these children and not become emotional. I want you to know that she has lost five vital body parts. She’s a very nice person, a very sweet lady–she’s in shock and extremely distraught.” says Lexington Co. Sheriff Lewis McCarty

The children’s bodies are now back in South Carolina, waiting for autopsy.Officials say they won’t release their names or cause of death until then. At the press conference Lexington County officials say the south carolina department of social services had investigated charges of abuse at the home.
That report will be released later today.
