Millbrook Woman Charged with Attempted Murder after Incident with Daughter

A Millbrook woman has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder, after authorities say she assaulted her daughter when she wouldn’t get dressed for school.

33-year-old Jessica Cobern was arrested by Millbrook police yesterday. Authorities say her 16-year-old daughter told a school official that her mother put a belt around her neck and choked her when she refused to get out of bed and get dressed for school. She said her mother stated she would kill her.

Authorities say there was visible bruising consistent with an item being placed around the victim’s throat.

Cobern is being held in the Elmore County Jail. Her daughter has been placed with another family member.
