ALDOT Holds Statewide Meeting to Improve Roads
What will Alabama’s roadways and railways look like in the next 25 years? That’s the question ALDOT tried to answer at the first phase of the statewide transportation plan meetings Wednesday night.
It’s a 6 to 7 month study. The statewide plan will be updated about every 5 years.
The study takes into account how many people travel on certain roads and estimated numbers for 25 years from now.
A consultant says they will work with 14 urban areas to come up with the best plan.
“We take a look at what they are projecting, what they have recommended and again we try to make sure if they appear in any gaps or disconnects in the system that we identify those as we look toward 2040,” said Rod Wilburn, President of J.R. Wilburn & Associates.
There will be another planning meeting next march.
