Fine Fall Weather, Plus Future Forecaster Sarah Blackmon

OH SO NICE: It is hard to find fault with this weather, the one exception is we need the rain. Unfortunately rain is not in the forecast, but at least it is cool. I know my windows are open, my AC is off, and I am letting my house air out. For the rest of today, we will have a case of severe clear with very comfortable temperatures. Afternoon temperatures are mainly in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

EYES ON MATTHEW: At 500 AM AST, the center of Hurricane Matthew was located near latitude 14.0 North, longitude 69.9 West. Matthew is moving toward the west near 14 mph, and this general motion with a decrease in forward speed is forecast through Saturday. A turn toward the northwest is expected Saturday night or Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near 100 mph with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Matthew could become a major hurricane later today or tonight.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles. The estimated minimum central pressure is 979 mb (28.91 inches). Odds are very high Matthew will stay well east of the Gulf of Mexico; it remains to be seen if it will move into any part of the U.S. East Coast, or stays offshore. Looks like a close call, and those from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to Cape Cod will need to keep a very close eye on this next week.

FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FORECAST: Looking fantastic for tonight’s high school games; a clear sky with temperatures falling through the 60s during the games. I would certainly grab a jacket if heading to one of the local games.

WONDERFUL WEEKEND WEATHER: Awesome autumn weather continues for both Saturday and Sunday, with sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights. The high Saturday will be in the mid 80s, followed by upper 80s Sunday. Morning lows hold in the mid to upper 50s.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL FORECAST: Alabama will host Kentucky Saturday evening at Bryant-Denny Stadium (6:00p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from 73 at kickoff, into the mid 60s by the fourth quarter.

Auburn hosts Louisiana-Monroe Saturday at Jordan Hare Stadium (2:30p CT kickoff)… expect a sunny sky with a kickoff temperature of 76 degrees…falling into the upper 60s by the final whistle.

NEXT WEEK: We look to stay dry through much of next week and temperatures will moderate some and we should see highs back into the upper 80s and lower 90s, while overnight lows will be in the lower 60s. Unfortunately very little to no rain is expected for much of next week. Keep in mind October is normally our driest month of the year so the drought conditions in place are not likely to improve anytime soon.

Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!
Ryan
