Man Killed, Woman Injured in Birmingham Shooting

Police say a shooting in Birmingham has left one man dead and a woman critically injured.

Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting around 6:30 a.m. Sunday on Bessemer Road. They found the man and the woman — both with gunshot wounds — on the ground outside their vehicle.

Al.com reports that both victims were taken to UAB Hospital, where the man died and the woman was in critical condition.

Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards said the victims were attacked by unknown males who fled the scene in a vehicle.

Police were asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.
