Tuskegee volleyball’s Wilson earns SIAC Newcomer of the Week
ATLANTA (goldentigersports.com) — Tuskegee University freshman Shakayia Wilson earned the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Newcomer of the Week award this week in volleyball, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Wilson finished with a team-high 11 kills in Tuskegee’s only match of the week against Division I Mississippi Valley State. The freshman outside hitter from Goose Creek, S.C. finished the match hitting a team-high .318 on 22 attacks.
She also added four digs and a block.
Tuskegee plays host to the SIAC West Cluster beginning Thursday at Chappie James Arena, and running through Saturday. The Lady Golden Tigers open play with the first match, taking on Lane College at 9 am on Thursday – the first of three matches for Tuskegee on the opening day.
