Average ER Wait Time 30 Minutes
A new look at emergency room visits finds the average wait time to see a health care professional is about 30 minutes and the average length of stay is a little more than two hours.
Researchers in California say large hospitals and urban hospitals have the longest wait times.
They also find, among patients who end up being admitted, the average length of stay in the emergency department is four hours, and a third of that time is spent waiting for a bed to become available.
