Gubernatorial Candidate Griffith Calls for Judge’s Resignation

Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Parker Griffith has joined a growing list calling for the resignation of U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller. The 55-year-old Fuller was arrested last month after a fight with his wife at a hotel in Atlanta. In a statement, Griffth said:

“Mark Fuller was appointed as a federal judge to uphold the law with dignity and respect. Because his recent actions violated his sworn commitment to uphold the law both in the courtroom and his daily life, Mark Fuller must resign immediately.

We must demonstrate that domestic violence will not be tolerated. The resignation of Mark Fuller will show to victims of abuse that their abusers cannot hold positions of power and there is punishment for such a despicable crime.

One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, and most cases are never reported to the police. If we remain silent, we condone this behavior. This cycle of violence and cruelty must end. We must take steps to stop it immediately.”

U.S. Represtentative Terri Sewell has also called for Fuller’s resignation, and U.S. Representative Martha Roby says she’s watching his case closely.
