Hurricane Evacuees in Capital City Waiting to Go Home
As Hurricane Matthew makes its way out to sea, people that evacuated to Montgomery are still waiting to go back.
The Capital City has seen a lot of evacuees from Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. Carol Campbell evacuated St. Simons Island, Georgia with her husband and two dogs. They have been staying at a hotel in Montgomery for 4 days still do not know when they will return home.
“A few people in the neighborhood have stayed and they say the main problem is lots of trees are down, and what’s happening now since the island is small, is we are having trouble with the sewer system,” said Campbell.
The Campbells hope to go home within the next day and two.
