St. James’ Tony Amerson is Capital Hyundai’s Impact Player of the Week
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AlabamaNews.Net) — St. James Trojans’ sophomore running back Tony Amerson is the latest Capital Hyundai Impact Player of the Week.
Amerson rambled for 206 yards on just 19 carries and a rushing touchdown in the Trojans’ 28-16 win over Alabama Christian Academy Friday night.
Monday afternoon, as the Trojans practiced for fellow regional unbeaten Dale County, Amerson took his latest accolade in stride, giving credit to the bug guys up front.
“Yes sir, I just try to do my best every time I step on the field and the o-line, they get it out of the way and I just run through it,” smiles Amerson.
Trojans Head Coach Jimmy Perry suggests Amerson’s award is a reflection of his team’s effort as a whole.
” Our defense gives us the football on offense and great field position, our kicking game has been pretty solid, we had a couple of boo-boo’s last week, we’re going to get fixed but it’s really been a team effort,” says Perry.
