Missing Plane May Be in Lake Eufaula

A small airplane missing along the Alabama-Georgia border with two people may have crashed into Lake Eufaula.
WTVY-TV reports there have been two calls from lake residents saying they heard what they believed to be a small plane engine sputtering.
Boats have been searching in the water using sonar and other equipment, and what appeared to be an oil slick was spotted near the dam.
But authorities don’t know what happened to the plane, and Henry County Sheriff William Maddox says officers are searching the water and ground for the aircraft.
The small airplane hasn’t been seen since taking off Tuesday morning in Headland. It never reached its destination in Eufaula.
Officials say the Piper Cub was carrying one man from Dothan and another from New Brockton.
