Pregnant Women Get Sicker from Flu

Pregnant women get sicker from the flu than other healthy adults because their pregnancy triggers a strengthened immune system response, not a weakened one.

Researchers at Stanford University say that was the unexpected finding of their study conducted on 50 pregnant and nonpregnant women.

They found pregnant women can actually produce too many immune cells which can clog airways in the lungs making them sicker.
