Charles Henderson Player Has Died After Collapse
A Charles Henderson football player injured in a Friday night game has died. He was just days away from his 18th birthday.
Demario Harris Jr. collapsed during the home game against Davidson. He was a senior cornerback.
Head Coach Brad McCoy says that this happened after a routine tackle, not a head on collision. He says it was not a “malicious hit”. Coach McCoy says Harris got up and walked after the tackle then fell to the ground.
Superintendent Lee Hicks wanted to make students and faculty aware that counseling services are available Saturday and Sunday. Counselors will be in the cafetorium from 2-5 p.m. He also says they have a plan in place to help students cope throughout the week. Homecoming’s also been postponed to give students time to grieve.Â
