Crime victims and anyone else interested in the status of a criminal case or inmate can now get that inforamtion electroniclly.

The systemn is called Crime Victim Automated Notification. The legislature approved the system in 2011. It allows residents to track parole dates of felony offenders. Some six-thousand parole hearings are held in Alabama each year.

“Now with internet technology you can receieve instant email, text messages or phone calls straight from the internet. It saves money and its also a much more efficient system to make sure the victims or their families receive the notification they deserve” says  Senator Cam Ward.
 
One out of every four Alabamians will be the victim of crime in their lifetime.
