Dept. of Education: $1 Million Inadvertently Sent to Pike Road Schools
Close to $1.4 million that was supposed to be allocated to Montgomery Public Schools was mistakenly sent to Pike Road City Schools, according to the Alabama Department of Education.

Michael Sibley, Director of Communications for the Alabama Department of Education, sent Alabama News Network the following statement:
“In every school system’s initial year, all funding computations are entered manually. They are automated in subsequent years. In this instance, a manual data entry error accounted for the inadvertent allocation of funds between Montgomery Public Schools and Pike Road City Schools. Both school systems are aware and are working together to arrange the transfer of funds. No other systems in the state were impacted.”
Tom Salter, spokesperson for Montgomery Public Schools, tells Alabama News Network that the error was discovered by someone with MPS. He says he is unsure when the issue will be resolved.
