Tuscaloosa police probing attempted kidnapping

Tuscaloosa police say they’re investigating the attempted kidnapping of a University of Alabama student.

Sgt. Dale Phillips says the 21-year-old woman was walking along 10th Avenue Wednesday night when a man tried pulling her into his SUV. Phillips says the woman was trained in self-defense and fought the man off.

Authorities say the suspect is described as a dark-skinned black man between 25 and 35 years old. Authorities say the man is about 6’2 and between 250 and 300 pounds with short hair and no facial hair. Police say the man was wearing a dark jogging suit and was driving a dark SUV.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene. (Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.)
