Joe Hubbard Responds To Negative Ads

We have more on the Attorney General’s race and the negative tone that’s taken over the campaign.
Today we hear from Democratic challenger Joe Hubbard after we talked with current Attorney General Luther Strange Monday.
Voters will be hitting the polls next Tuesday and we’re seeing the last push from candidates to get their name out there.
For some, that means targeting their opponent.
“Luther Strange wants to tie me to Barack Obama because he believes that associating me with the Washington liberals that he’s buddies with, frankly has lobbied for 30 plus years as a Washington DC lobbyist, he believes that will help him somehow in that election,” said Hubbard.Â
Hubbard stressed that he’s pro-life and pro-gun and has never met President Obama.
Political analyst Steve Flowers says there’s a reason that you see so many ads like this leading up to election day.
“People lament negative ads, but people use them because they work. Usually someone in that title race with the kind of finances they have consultants who really like to go negative,” said Flowers.
Hubbard’s ads have been targeting Luther Strange’s record as attorney general.
“We need to talk about the facts. And that’s one thing Luther Strange is running from. He’s running from the facts, he’s running from the record, he’s running from the issues. That’s why he’s hiding behind Barack Obama,” said Hubbard.
Flowers says to expect more attack ads until next week.
“You can probably see them up until the last day or two. Traditionally people have pulled back negatively and tried to go positive the last two days,” said Flowers.
