MPD Charge Teens in Carmichael Road Robbery
MPD has charged a 17-year-old suspect in two robberies and also charged a 16-year-old in connection with one of the robberies.
On Monday, Jan. 30, at about 9:30 a.m., MPD responded to a call at the 4000 block of Carmichael Road in reference to the person being robbed. The victim advised that he was robbed of personal property by two male suspects, and he provided police with a description of the suspect vehicle.
MPD soon located the suspect vehicle and took the two suspects, both teenagers, into custody. Following their arrests, Cody Edwards, 17, and L’Derrick Purnell, 16, were charged as adults with one count each of first-degree robbery.
MPD’s further investigation also linked Edwards to a robbery that occurred Sunday, Jan. 29, in the 1000 block of Whitaker Street. Edwards then was charged with a second count of first-degree robbery. Both suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
Edwards bonds totaled $60,000 and Purnell bonds totaled $30,000.
There were no injuries in either offense.
