Montgomery Fire and Rescue Make Arrest in Arson Investigation
Montgomery Fire and Rescue has made an arrest in the January 9, structure fire at 995 West South Blvd.
Officers charged Oystella Randall, 42, with second-degree arson, a Class B felony. Randall was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where she was being held under a $5,000 bond.
Montgomery Fire and Rescue responded to the fire at approximately 3:30 p.m. Jan. 9, finding the structure fully involved with heavy smoke and flames visible. Due to the heavy fire load, additional crews were called to upgrade this incident to a second alarm. It took firefighters approximately 40 minutes to gain control of the flames, and the structure sustained extensive damage.
Montgomery Fire and Rescue investigators believed the fire to be suspicious initially because no power was supplied to the structure. As the investigation progressed, Montgomery Fire and Rescue confirmed their suspicions of arson and identified Randall as the suspect.
