Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to let their voices be heard.
“I think we need to vote to change what’s going on in society, today as well with jobs, job security,” said Rochelle Wright.
But according to political analyst Steve Flowers, since there aren’t any big races, there will be a low voter turnout.
“In this case, with all our incumbents being Republican, it helps to solidify what we are already anticipating and that is Governor Bentley and Republican constitutional officers are going to win easy re-election,” said Flowers.
Flowers says the Attorney General’s race may be the closest with incumbent Republican Luther Strange and Democrat Joe Hubbard.
Flowers says there are 28 statewide officers all held by Republicans, and many of those are running opposed.
“The chances of a Democrat breaking that barrier is what Hubbard has got to overcome,” said Flowers.
But for Huntingdon College student Christl Wagener, it’s all the more reason to get to the polls.
“I don’t feel that the democratic vote is represented very well in Alabama. I’m not from Alabama, so I feel like even though we don’t get that much of a say, every little bit can help,” said Wagener.
Whether Democrat or Republican, for these voters, it’s about letting your voice be heard.
And they wish more people would exercise that right.
“How do you not have time to vote for the things that are important? They are extremely important… jobs, education for our children,” said Jennifer Martin.
There will also be five statewide constitutional amendments on the ballot.
Polls are open from 7:00am-7:00pm
