MPD Makes Arrest in August Homicide

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Police Department has made an arrest in the Saturday, Aug. 30, shooting death of 22-year-old Ronald James of Montgomery.
MPD detectives charged Tavaras Brown, 21, of Montgomery with one count of murder. Brown was taken into custody by detectives on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014. Following his arrest, Brown was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under a $75,000 bond.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at about 3:15 a.m., Montgomery Police and Fire Medics responded to the 4700 block of Park Towne Way Drive on a report of a subject shot. There they located the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced deceased.Â

MPD’s initial investigation indicated the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute. Further investigation identified Brown as a suspect.
