Selma Interpretive Center Expansion Complete

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

An expansion project at the Selma Interpretive Center is now complete and the renovated area was opened to the public for the first time Thursday.

The second and third floors of the facility have been completely renovated.

The expansion included new meeting and office space as well as a new elevator and stairwell.

New exhibits dig deeper into the history of the Selma Voting Rights Movement.

“This is a beautiful thing,” said Green Street Baptist Church, Associate Pastor, Rev. Harry Shannon.

“Because our children don’t even know and realize who fought for them to get them where they are today.”

The National Park Service handles the day to day operation of the Selma Interpretive Center.

The city of Selma owns the building.
