Troy Students Participate in Mayor of the Day

7th grade students in Troy had an opportunity to learn about government Tuesday.

It was all part of the city’s 16th annual Mayor of the Day. One student was chosen as mayor, five others as city council members and another student as the city clerk. Students participated in team-building games, toured Troy to learn the city’s history and at the the end of the day held their own city council meeting. Each student was chosen based on essays they wrote on how to make Troy a better place.”

“It basically helps me visualize what the mayor does everyday and what if feels like to be a mayor,” says Braxton Brown.

“It just helps me visualize what a good job our government does in Troy and I’m thankful for this opportunity,” says Abby Porter.

Students presented their own resolution of making Troy a better place during the city’s council meeting.
